The UCT Symphonic Wind Ensemble, comprising of about forty-five under- and post-graduate students perform their first concert of 2024, conducted by post-graduate diploma student in conducting Damian Philander.

Mr Hlamulo Khorommbi

Hlamulo, a dedicated and passionate student leader, is currently pursuing a BSc in physiotherapy at the University of Cape Town (UCT). His journey in student leadership began in 2021 when he joined the Faculty of Health Sciences Student Council, where he advocated for student welfare and academic excellence.

Transitioning to broader university involvement, Hlamulo embraced the role of Sports and Recreation Representative within the UCT Students’ Representative Council (SRC) in 2022, promoting student engagement and well-being beyond academics.

Mr Kamvelihle Tabata

Kamvelihle Tabata is a global citizen who actively participates in endeavours that foster social inclusion. His passion extends to community engagement, environmental sustainability and awareness, as well as advancement of technology in rural areas. He is a former treasurer general of the University of Cape Town’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and has been involved in campus activism throughout his years in education. Kamva is involved in rural community work where he actively mentors and tutors matriculants.

Mr Sandile Monoane

Sandile Monoane is a holder of a Bachelor of Social Science (BSocSci) degree from the University of Cape Town, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.

He is passionate about student governance, politics and law. He has previously led in the Faculty of Humanities as an academic chair for social sciences; he has been the deputy chair for the undergraduate academic sub-council. In these roles he has worked to ensure that student interests are well represented.
